The following comments represent me and no one else in the club. This is my opinion, if you agree, thats great and spread this viewpoint. I don't think I would have done this, but people need to be reminded of the stresses on the mind in a combat zone.

Not sure if you all have seen this yet, but I heard about it earlier today from my brother, then was blasted with it by the news after work. You know what, fuck D.C., fuck the Pentagon and fuck everyone saying how unimaginable this is. The one thing that really gets me though, is all the senior Military officers, who have been hiding out in the White house for the past decade, have all of the sudden acted "blindsided" by this. The last time any of those mother fuckers were in combat was Vietnam or never! Apparently they are the only ones who have forgotten what its like.

People have forgotten the context in where this was taken from. These Taliban were previously trying to kill these Marines. Have you ever had someone try to kill you? Media, I'm guessing not. Has everyone forgotten Somalia, where a U.S. soldier was dragged naked through the streets? This is war. You all got us into it, now that we're here, you should defend how it effects young people.

Last thing, all these senior officials, sent these Marines and Soldiers there, sometimes 3, 4, 5 tours, what the fuck do you think is going to happen? And the worst part, this is specifically directed at the senior Marine officers I have seen on the TV, you don't even defend your fellow Marines and the wrath of war on a young mind. What happened to Semper Fidelis? Always Faithful? Until it affects your careers I guess.

Sonora: A Happy Place

Sonora, CA -- Three Tuolumne County Sheriff's cars were lit on fire early this morning.

The cars were parked outside of the Sheriff's Office Administration building on Yaney Avenue. Sheriff Jim Mele says a fourth vehicle was also set on fire, and he believes this may have been left by the arsonist. It is unknown if the suspect actually owns the vehicle.

"We're looking at this and treating this as an act of terrorism to the Sheriff's Office," says Mele. "Obviously it was very deliberate, this vehicle was placed between the patrol vehicles, and the other vehicles were doused with gasoline."

No arrests have been made. All four vehicles were destroyed. The fires were set at around 3am. State and Federal agencies have been contacted to assist the investigation.

Everything has been figured out, except how to live.

This is a good friend of ours daughter, who we all grew up skateboarding, snowboarding, and now, riding around with. They are a local family, with his younger brother putting this on in Las Vegas, where he lives now.
Come out and show some support and love, I don't think she will be there, but we will be, with some other people from Sonora. I know this is happening on the same weekend as Mooneyes and David Mann, but we've rode south through snow, wind storms and rain to go to those shows, but somehow, I don't think they will be as good as this one.

Rank and organization: Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army, Vietnam Training Advisory Group, Republic of Vietnam. Place and date: Republic of Vietnam, 4 and 5 June 1971. Entered service at: Fresno, Calif. Born: 2 August 1943, Royston, England. Citation: S/Sgt. Cavaiani distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty in action in the Republic of Vietnam on 4 and 5 June 1971 while serving as a platoon leader to a security platoon providing security for an isolated radio relay site located within enemy-held territory. On the morning of 4 June 1971, the entire camp came under an intense barrage of enemy small arms, automatic weapons, rocket-propelled grenade and mortar fire from a superior size enemy force. S/Sgt. Cavaiani acted with complete disregard for his personal safety as he repeatedly exposed himself to heavy enemy fire in order to move about the camp's perimeter directing the platoon's fire and rallying the platoon in a desperate fight for survival. S/Sgt. Cavaiani also returned heavy suppressive fire upon the assaulting enemy force during this period with a variety of weapons. When the entire platoon was to be evacuated, S/Sgt. Cavaiani unhesitatingly volunteered to remain on the ground and direct the helicopters into the landing zone. S/Sgt. Cavaiani was able to direct the first 3 helicopters in evacuating a major portion of the platoon. Due to intense increase in enemy fire, S/Sgt. Cavaiani was forced to remain at the camp overnight where he calmly directed the remaining platoon members in strengthening their defenses. On the morning of S June, a heavy ground fog restricted visibility. The superior size enemy force launched a major ground attack in an attempt to completely annihilate the remaining small force. The enemy force advanced in 2 ranks, first firing a heavy volume of small arms automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenade fire while the second rank continuously threw a steady barrage of hand grenades at the beleaguered force. S/Sgt. Cavaiani returned a heavy barrage of small arms and hand grenade fire on the assaulting enemy force but was unable to slow them down. He ordered the remaining platoon members to attempt to escape while he provided them with cover fire. With 1 last courageous exertion, S/Sgt. Cavaiani recovered a machine gun, stood up, completely exposing himself to the heavy enemy fire directed at him, and began firing the machine gun in a sweeping motion along the 2 ranks of advancing enemy soldiers. Through S/Sgt. Cavaiani's valiant efforts with complete disregard for his safety, the majority of the remaining platoon members were able to escape. While inflicting severe losses on the advancing enemy force, S/Sgt. Cavaiani was wounded numerous times. S/Sgt. Cavaiani's conspicuous gallantry, extraordinary heroism and intrepidity at the risk of his life, above and beyond the call of duty, were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the U.S. Army.

Instead of the G.V. Roll-In, this year Miles Masonry, Goodtimes, and friends are putting on a horseshoe tournament and bike show in Pioneer Park in Nevada City, CA. We are hoping to get registration started by 11am, with the tournament starting no later than 12 noon. After the tournament is over who ever wants to keep partying can ride with us to an as of now undecided campout location.Yes it will be hot in August, but Pioneer Park has plenty of shade and creek running through it to keep y'all from overheating.

A raffle will go down with prizes provided by local merchants, skateboard companies, and motorcycle companies.There will be some of BBQ grub for sale at the event. As far as hydration, BYOB (there is a gas station and store with beer nearby).

Bike Show:
Ride in whatever you got motorcycle show. No prizes or rules, just show up on yer bike and check out other bitchin' cycles, shoot the shit, whatever. We don't care what you ride, just ride it!

Horseshoe Tournament:
Entry fee will be $20 per team. If you ride to the event, entry fee will be $10. The top winners will receive cash prizes.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR HORSESHOES: The horseshoe pits at Pioneer Park are real deal clay pits, this ain't no backyard pit with rocks and weeds. We are trying to get enough horseshoes together for the tournament, but if you got yer own, bring them please. Also, we are getting some guys saying they are the shit at horseshoes, so beware, this may turn out to be quite a tournament.

This is just an update on the event for saturday. Despite snow flurries yesterday, its sunny and much warmer today, and the weather for saturday is going to be even better, 60's and sunny. Everything is going to go as planned, setup between 6am-8am, and doors opening at 8am. BBQ, beer, and music will also be happening throughout the day.

Camping: Lots of room, but the best spots are going to be in the grass, which might still be damp come saturday night. Bring a tarp and you'll be fine.

Hotels: There are a few about 3 miles west on hwy 108 from the event.

OK, here's the deal. Due to ass backwards policy making in downtown Sonora and a pile of permits that everyone and their brother wants us to fill out, we are moving it up the hill. The new location is actually the spot of the after party, so it works out better for people getting wasted in the sun! The spot is only a couple miles up highway 108, eastbound. Camping is still happening, bands, food, beer, and oh yeah a full swap meet. Due to the larger space, there are about 10 more swap spaces available.
